Hello and welcome to The Irish Mbassy Sports Bar and Restaurant!
My name is Alan Boesch and I am the head chef. I hail from sunny Durban in South Africa, which is a beautiful city set into Natal Bay & famous as one of the country’s great tourist destinations, with its sub-tropical climate and beautiful beaches.
It was here at the tender age of ten I began my
love affair with cooking
while working
summers for my father, who was one of the city’s top chefs. I would spend every spare minute I
could either by his side at the stove or in his bakery soaking up the aromas and tricks of the trade.
After beginning my formal training at the Royal Hotel Durban,I left for
Switzerland
in search of
new challenges. I spent 5 years there honingmy skills in different restaurants and hotels.I first
came to
Krakow
2 years ago visiting an old friend and quickly fell in love with the city and
decided to stay. So when the opportunityto continue my career as a head chef was given to me,I
seized it immediately.
Here in the
Irish Mbassy
I have tried to implement my philosophy on food into a pub
atmosphere. That means
fresh locally sourced produce
cooked simply and well. Of course,
not everything is from Poland - our sausage and bacon is specially
imported from Ireland
to
give our Irish breakfast the taste of the Emerald Isle, our cod which is
delivered fresh
three
times a week from the freezing waters of the North Sea & our lamb is from the verdant grasslands
of
New Zealand
but everything else we use is local Polish produce delivered by local suppliers.
